According to the World Bank, in 1976, the top 3 African countries with high net exports of goods and services in current US$ (i.e. total exports of goods and services in current US$ minus total imports of goods and services in current US$) are: Ivory Coast (256.12M US$), Zimbabwe (102.05M US$), and Uganda (43.60M US$).

Conversely, in 1976, the top 3 African countries with high net imports of goods and services in current US$ (i.e. total imports of goods and services in current US$ minus total exports of goods and services in current US$ ) are: Nigeria (2.07B US$), Morocco (1.80B US$), and Egypt (1.43B US$).

The World Bank defines exports of goods and services as "the value of all goods and other market services provided to the rest of the world" , and defines imports of goods and services as "the value of all goods and other market services received from the rest of the world".
