Conversely, in 1983, the top 3 African countries with high net imports of goods and services in current US$ (i.e. total imports of goods and services in current US$ minus total exports of goods and services in current US$ ) are: Egypt (3.49B US$), Morocco (1.16B US$), and Sudan (875.85M US$).

The World Bank defines exports of goods and services as "the value of all goods and other market services provided to the rest of the world" , and defines imports of goods and services as "the value of all goods and other market services received from the rest of the world".
