According to the World Bank, in 1993, the top 3 African countries with high net exports of goods and services in current US$ (i.e. total exports of goods and services in current US$ minus total imports of goods and services in current US$) are: South Africa (6.08B US$), Nigeria (1.78B US$), and Cameroon (1.07B US$).

Conversely, in 1993, the top 3 African countries with high net imports of goods and services in current US$ (i.e. total imports of goods and services in current US$ minus total exports of goods and services in current US$ ) are: Egypt (1.98B US$), Morocco (1.76B US$), and Tanzania (1.27B US$).

The World Bank defines exports of goods and services as "the value of all goods and other market services provided to the rest of the world" , and defines imports of goods and services as "the value of all goods and other market services received from the rest of the world".
