According to the World Bank, in 2000, the top 3 African countries with high net exports of goods and services in current US$ (i.e. total exports of goods and services in current US$ minus total imports of goods and services in current US$) are: Nigeria (16.01B US$), Algeria (11.66B US$), and Libya (6.83B US$).

Conversely, in 2000, the top 3 African countries with high net imports of goods and services in current US$ (i.e. total imports of goods and services in current US$ minus total exports of goods and services in current US$ ) are: Egypt (6.61B US$), Morocco (2.17B US$), and Mozambique (1.34B US$).

The World Bank defines exports of goods and services as "the value of all goods and other market services provided to the rest of the world" , and defines imports of goods and services as "the value of all goods and other market services received from the rest of the world".
