According to the World Bank, in 2017, the top 3 African countries with high net exports of goods and services in current US$ (i.e. total exports of goods and services in current US$ minus total imports of goods and services in current US$) are: Angola (7.02B US$), South Africa (4.37B US$), and Libya (3.85B US$).

Conversely, in 2017, the top 3 African countries with high net imports of goods and services in current US$ (i.e. total imports of goods and services in current US$ minus total exports of goods and services in current US$ ) are: Egypt (31.80B US$), Algeria (17.11B US$), and Ethiopia (12.96B US$).

The World Bank defines exports of goods and services as "the value of all goods and other market services provided to the rest of the world" , and defines imports of goods and services as "the value of all goods and other market services received from the rest of the world".
