Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, the Poverty Rate for New Mexico was 18.33%.

By Race: The American Indian & Alaska Native Alone racial group had the highest poverty rate in New Mexico (31.43%), followed by Some Other Race Alone (23.66%), and Black Alone (22.52%). The racial group with the lowest poverty rate was Asian Alone (10.84%).

By Ethnicity: The poverty rate of the Hispanic or Latino of All Races ethnicity group was (20.95%), and that of the Non-Hispanic White Alone ethnicity group was (11.80%).
