Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, the Poverty Rate for West Virginia was 16.88%. Among all West Virginia cities and places with a population of at least 10K, Morgantown city had the highest poverty rate (34.08%), followed by Huntington city (30.21%), and Martinsburg city (24.3%). On the other hand, the following 3 cities and places had the lowest poverty rate: Cheat Lake CDP (4.85%), Teays Valley CDP (5.52%), and Vienna city (10.54%).
