Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, the Poverty Rate for West Virginia was 16.88%. Among all West Virginia counties, McDowell County had the highest poverty rate (28.93%), followed by Calhoun County (28.39%), and Mingo County (28.24%). On the other hand, the following 3 counties had the lowest poverty rate: Pleasants County (7.45%), Morgan County (7.97%), and Jefferson County (9.71%).
