Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, the number of employed US civilians (16 years and over) who were employed as Economists was 31,597 (i.e. 0.02% of all civilian employees). Among those employed as Economists, 68.11% were Males, and 31.89% were Females.
The median earnings for all Economists was $123,542, which was 56.88% higher than the median earnings for all US civilian employees. The median earnings of Female Economists was 17.43% less than that of their male counterparts.
