Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, 92,096 out of 250,096 Detroit city, MI households received Food Stamps or SNAP in the last 12 months (i.e. 36.82% of Detroit city households).

By Race: As a percentage of the total number of households that received SNAP or Food Stamps, the Black Alone racial group constituted 86.21%; the White Alone racial group constituted 7.78%, and the Two or More Races racial group constituted 2.89%.

By Ethnicity: As a percentage of the total number of households that received Food Stamps or SNAP, the Non-Hispanic White Alone ethnicity group constituted 6.24%, and the Hispanic or Latino of All Races ethnicity group constituted 4.39%.

Percentage of Each Racial Group's Households that Received SNAP: 40.03% of Black Alone households received Food Stamps or SNAP; 21.69% of White Alone households received SNAP; and 38.19% of Two or More Races households received SNAP.
