According to data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2003 Q1, the average weekly wage for South Dakota was $514. Among all South Dakota counties, Union County had the highest average weekly wage ($712), followed by Minnehaha County ($595), and Buffalo County ($563).

On the other hand, McPherson County had the lowest average weekly wage ($319), followed by Campbell County ($324), and Mellette County ($336).
