According to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in July 2010, the United States not seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers (CPI-U): Boston-Cambridge-Newton, MA-NH was 236.132 and the 12-month percent change (inflation rate) was -2.1%. The following item categories had the highest not seasonally adjusted 12-month percent change in CPI-U:

  1. Alcoholic beverages: 7.7%
  2. Household energy: 7.5%
  3. Motor fuel: 6.5%
