According to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in September 2022, the United States not seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers (CPI-U): Boston-Cambridge-Newton, MA-NH was 318.8 and the 12-month percent change (inflation rate) was 12.5%. The following item categories had the highest not seasonally adjusted 12-month percent change in CPI-U:

  1. Household energy: 37.3%
  2. New and used motor vehicles: 33.5%
  3. Motor fuel: 23%
