According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2004:

  1. California: 45,500
  2. New York: 42,300
  3. Texas: 18,400

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2004:

  1. Rhode Island: -200
  2. Hawaii: 0
