According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in May, 2013:

  1. Illinois: 11,900
  2. New York: 9,700
  3. California: 9,400

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in May, 2013:

  1. Arizona: -2,700
  2. Mississippi: 0
  3. Hawaii: 100
