According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Retail Trade industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2008:

  1. New York: 6,800
  2. Massachusetts: 3,300
  3. Louisiana: 2,900

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Retail Trade industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2008:

  1. Florida: -1,700
  2. Michigan: -1,500
  3. Alabama: -1,400
