According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in March, 2012:

  1. California: 5,100
  2. Maryland: 2,900
  3. Colorado: 1,500

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the State Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in March, 2012:

  1. Michigan: -1,300
  2. Illinois: -700
  3. Louisiana: -500
