According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Total Nonfarm industry (not seasonally adjusted) in July, 2012:

  1. District of Columbia: 10,200
  2. Alaska: 3,600
  3. Maine: 400

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Total Nonfarm industry (not seasonally adjusted) in July, 2012:

  1. California: -171,900
  2. New York: -91,600
  3. New Jersey: -75,500
