According to recent data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, in September, 2019, Texas added the highest number of jobs to the federal government general merchandise stores industry (109), followed by California (53), and Virginia (36).

On the other hand, North Carolina added the least number of jobs (-47), followed by Oklahoma (-20), and Hawaii (-15).
