In May 2020, the following were the rankings of the top 10 North Carolina counties based on the number of Local Government employment they had for All Industries:

  2. Wake: 36,163
  3. Guilford: 19,484
  4. Cumberland: 17,471
  5. Pitt: 15,530
  6. New Hanover: 14,179
  7. Forsyth: 13,216
  8. Cabarrus: 13,007
  9. Durham: 10,264
  10. Buncombe: 8,357

The following were the rankings of the top 10 North Carolina counties based on the number of Local Government jobs added to All Industries in May 2020:

  1. Mecklenburg: 151
  2. New Hanover: 81
  3. Stanly: 17
  4. Cherokee: 15
  5. Wilkes: 15
  6. Madison: 12
  7. Surry: 12
  8. Avery: 10
  9. Graham: 3
  10. Tyrrell: 3
