In January 2019, the following were the rankings of the top 10 Texas counties based on the number of State Government employment they had for All Industries:

  1. Travis: 58,655
  2. Harris: 52,673
  3. Brazos: 25,744
  4. Dallas: 22,821
  5. Bexar: 17,314
  6. Denton: 13,501
  7. Galveston: 12,788
  8. Lubbock: 11,298
  9. Walker: 10,676
  10. El Paso: 9,723

The following were the rankings of the top 10 Texas counties based on the number of State Government jobs added to All Industries in January 2019:

  1. Denton: 5,159
  2. Harris: 825
  3. Travis: 287
  4. Dallas: 202
  5. Hidalgo: 99
  6. Jefferson: 65
  7. Nacogdoches: 31
  8. Bexar: 19
  9. Falls: 12
  10. Taylor: 10
