According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of Alaska was 6.9% (sa) in March, 2002. Among all Alaska counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Skagway-Hoonah-Angoon (21.1%), Prince of Wales-Outer Ketchikan (20.1%), and Southeast Fairbanks (17.8%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Aleutians West (3.5%), Juneau (6.1%), and Anchorage (6.1%).
