According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of Alaska was 7.4% (sa) in October, 2002. Among all Alaska counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Kusilvak (17.3%), Prince of Wales-Outer Ketchikan (12.7%), and Southeast Fairbanks (12.6%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Yakutat (4.2%), Aleutians West (4.8%), and Sitka (5%).
