According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of Alaska was 7.3% (sa) in September, 2002. Among all Alaska counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Kusilvak (17.6%), Prince of Wales-Outer Ketchikan (11.8%), and Northwest Arctic (11.4%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Denali (3.4%), Yakutat (3.5%), and Bristol Bay (4.4%).
