According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of Alaska was 8.2% (sa) in August, 2009. Among all Alaska counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Kusilvak (20.9%), Bethel (14.6%), and Nome (12.4%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Bristol Bay (2.2%), Denali (2.9%), and Sitka (4.8%).
