According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of New Jersey was 4.9% (sa) in July, 2004. Among all New Jersey counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Cumberland (7%), Essex (6.8%), and Hudson (6.7%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Hunterdon (3.8%), Morris (4%), and Somerset (4.1%).
