According to data from the US BLS, the unemployment rate of New Jersey was 9.4% (sa) in August, 2009. Among all New Jersey counties, these 3 were among those with high unemployment rates (nsa): Cumberland (12.3%), Passaic (11.6%), and Atlantic (11.5%).

On the hand, the following three counties were among those with low unemployment rates (nsa): Hunterdon (7.1%), Cape May (7.1%), and Morris (7.5%).
