Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, there were 18,818,637 people in New York who had Health Insurance coverage (i.e. 94.67% of New York population), and 1,059,370 people who did not have a Health Insurance coverage (i.e. 5.33% of New York population).

The following age groups had the highest percentage of their population who did not have a health insurance coverage: the 26 - 34 Years age group (10.37%), followed by the 35 - 44 Years age group (8.74%), and the 19 - 25 Years age group (7.21%).
