Based on the US Census ACS-5Yrs estimates, in 2021, the percentage of the US population without a health insurance coverage was 8.77% (i.e. 28,489,142 people). Percentagewise, among all US states, Texas had the highest percentage of its population with no health insurance coverage (17.58%), followed by Oklahoma (14.32%), and Georgia (13.13%).

In numerical terms, Texas had the highest number of people without a health insurance coverage (4,995,381), followed by California (2,800,277), and Florida (2,657,226).

For the District of Columbia, there were 22,843 people with no health insurance coverage (i.e. 3.39% of the population of DC).
