According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, as at April 2020, there were 2,759,022 people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone in New York, which was 13.66% of the total New York population.

Kings County had the highest number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone (729,696), followed by Bronx County (419,393), and Queens County (381,375). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone were: Hamilton County (30), Schuyler County (91), and Lewis County (103).
