According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, as at April 2020, there were 1,269,031 people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone in South Carolina, which was 24.79% of the total South Carolina population.

Richland County had the highest number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone (188,141), followed by Charleston County (91,746), and Greenville County (87,124). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identified as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone were: McCormick County (3,916), Saluda County (4,028), and Oconee County (5,119).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identify as Non-Hispanic - Black or African American Alone, Allendale County had the highest percentage (70.23%), followed by Williamsburg County (63.11%), and Lee County (60.82%).
