According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, in April 2020, there were 33,625 people in Alabama who identified their race as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone, which is 0.67% of the total population of Alabama. Mobile County had the highest number of people who identify as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone (4,057), followed by Madison County (2,978), and Jefferson County (2,321). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identify as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone were: Greene County (5), Marengo County (9), and Wilcox County (11).

In terms of the percentage of each county's total population, Washington County had the highest percentage, with 7.24% of its population identifying their race as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone, followed by Lawrence County (4.38%), and Escambia County (4.19%).
