Alaska American Indian and Alaska Native Alone Population By County in Census 2020

According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, in April 2020, there were 111,575 people in Alaska who identified their race as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone, which is 15.21% of the total population of Alaska. Anchorage Municipality had the highest number of people who identify as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone (23,661), followed by Bethel Census Area (15,632), and Kusilvak Census Area (7,946). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identify as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone were: Skagway Municipality (32), Denali Borough (61), and Haines Borough (214).

In terms of the percentage of each county's total population, Kusilvak Census Area had the highest percentage, with 94.96% of its population identifying their race as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone, followed by Bethel Census Area (83.75%), and Northwest Arctic Borough (83.01%).
