According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, in April 2020, there were 96,498 people in Illinois who identified their race as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone, which is 0.75% of the total population of Illinois. Cook County had the highest number of people who identify as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone (56,894), followed by Lake County (7,112), and Kane County (6,997). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identify as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone were: Hardin County (0), Scott County (3), and Gallatin County (5).

In terms of the percentage of each county's total population, Kane County had the highest percentage, with 1.36% of its population identifying their race as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone, followed by Cook County (1.08%), and Lake County (1.00%).
