According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, in April 2020, there were 16,450 people in Mississippi who identified their race as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone, which is 0.56% of the total population of Mississippi. Neshoba County had the highest number of people who identify as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone (4,997), followed by Leake County (1,430), and Newton County (1,180). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identify as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone were: Sharkey County (1), Quitman County (1), and Issaquena County (3).

In terms of the percentage of each county's total population, Neshoba County had the highest percentage, with 17.18% of its population identifying their race as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone, followed by Leake County (6.72%), and Newton County (5.54%).
