According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, in April 2020, there were 149,690 people in New York who identified their race as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone, which is 0.74% of the total population of New York. Queens County had the highest number of people who identify as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone (30,513), followed by Bronx County (21,539), and Kings County (20,598). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identify as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone were: Hamilton County (14), Yates County (49), and Schuyler County (50).

In terms of the percentage of each county's total population, Franklin County had the highest percentage, with 8.71% of its population identifying their race as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone, followed by Cattaraugus County (3.51%), and Bronx County (1.46%).
