According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, in April 2020, there were 24,303 people in South Carolina who identified their race as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone, which is 0.48% of the total population of South Carolina. Greenville County had the highest number of people who identify as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone (2,437), followed by York County (2,284), and Horry County (1,610). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identify as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone were: McCormick County (27), Bamberg County (30), and Abbeville County (44).

In terms of the percentage of each county's total population, Marlboro County had the highest percentage, with 4.27% of its population identifying their race as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone, followed by Dillon County (2.26%), and Saluda County (0.89%).
