South Carolina Black or African American Alone Population By County in Census 2020

According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, in April 2020, there were 1,280,531 people in South Carolina who identified their race as Black or African American Alone, which is 25.02% of the total population of South Carolina. Richland County had the highest number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone (190,218), followed by Charleston County (92,598), and Greenville County (88,181). On the other hand, the three counties with the least number of people who identify as Black or African American Alone were: McCormick County (3,933), Saluda County (4,072), and Oconee County (5,193).

In terms of the percentage of each county's total population, Allendale County had the highest percentage, with 70.36% of its population identifying their race as Black or African American Alone, followed by Williamsburg County (63.39%), and Lee County (61.00%).
