According to the data from the United States 2020 decennial Census for West Virginia counties, in April 2020, among all West Virginia counties, Gilmer County had the highest percentage of its population that identified their race as Black or African American Alone (12.65%), followed by McDowell County (11.32%), and Raleigh County (7.84%).
