South Dakota American Indian and Alaska Native Alone Voting-age Population By County in Census 2020

According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, as at April 2020, among all the South Dakota voting-age population (18 years and over), there were 48,674 people who identified their race as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone, which is 7.27% of the total voting-age population of South Dakota.

Oglala Lakota County had the highest number of American Indian and Alaska Native Alone voting-age population (7,954), followed by Pennington County (7,563), and Todd County (4,856).

On the other hand, the three counties with low number of American Indian and Alaska Native Alone voting-age population were: Hanson County (3), Sully County (4), and Miner County (8).

In terms of the percentage of each county's voting-age population, Oglala Lakota County had the highest percentage, with 92.44% of its voting-age population identifying their race as American Indian and Alaska Native Alone, followed by Todd County (86.48%), and Buffalo County (78.85%).
