North Carolina Black or African American Alone Voting-age Population By County in Census 2020

According to the data from the US 2020 decennial Census, as at April 2020, among all the North Carolina voting-age population (18 years and over), there were 1,639,043 people who identified their race as Black or African American Alone, which is 20.10% of the total voting-age population of North Carolina.

Mecklenburg County had the highest number of Black or African American Alone voting-age population (250,649), followed by Wake County (157,662), and Guilford County (138,672).

On the other hand, the three counties with low number of Black or African American Alone voting-age population were: Graham County (36), Mitchell County (41), and Clay County (53).

In terms of the percentage of each county's voting-age population, Bertie County had the highest percentage, with 59.08% of its voting-age population identifying their race as Black or African American Alone, followed by Hertford County (55.81%), and Edgecombe County (55.06%).
