Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2013, there were 55,513 people that identified as Non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native alone in Michigan and they represented 0.56% of the total population of Michigan in 2013. Chippewa County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native alone population (5,974), followed by Wayne County (5,732), and Oakland County (3,004). On the other hand, Keweenaw County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native alone (3), followed by Montmorency County (47), and Oscoda County (53).
