Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2018, there were 56,302 people that identified as Non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native alone in Michigan and they represented 0.56% of the total population of Michigan in 2018. Chippewa County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native alone population (6,067), followed by Wayne County (5,806), and Oakland County (2,978). On the other hand, Keweenaw County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native alone (7), followed by Montmorency County (66), and Oscoda County (69).
