Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2018, there were 182,757 people that identified as Non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native alone in New Mexico and they represented 8.73% of the total population of New Mexico in 2018. McKinley County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native alone population (53,065), followed by San Juan County (47,390), and Bernalillo County (28,584). On the other hand, Harding County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic American Indian and Alaska Native alone (1), followed by De Baca County (21), and Hidalgo County (22).
