Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2016, there were 1,288,753 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Alabama and they represented 26.48% of the total population of Alabama in 2016. Jefferson County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (284,024), followed by Mobile County (147,374), and Montgomery County (130,786). On the other hand, Winston County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (176), followed by Cleburne County (472), and Blount County (807).
