Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2011, there were 2,192,163 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in California and they represented 5.83% of the total population of California in 2011. Los Angeles County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (823,520), followed by Alameda County (184,432), and San Bernardino County (173,988). On the other hand, Alpine County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (1), followed by Sierra County (7), and Trinity County (54).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, Solano County had the highest percentage (14.23%), followed by Alameda County (12.05%), and Sacramento County (9.91%).
