Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2021, there were 2,201,400 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in California and they represented 5.62% of the total population of California in 2021. Los Angeles County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (786,790), followed by San Bernardino County (179,785), and Alameda County (161,948). On the other hand, Alpine County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (11), followed by Sierra County (13), and Trinity County (80).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, Solano County had the highest percentage (13.26%), followed by Alameda County (9.85%), and Sacramento County (9.7%).
