Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2013, there were 1,835,944 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Illinois and they represented 14.24% of the total population of Illinois in 2013. Cook County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (1,252,998), followed by St. Clair County (80,456), and Will County (76,597). On the other hand, Scott County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (8), followed by Calhoun County (13), and Hardin County (15).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, Alexander County had the highest percentage (34.42%), followed by Pulaski County (31.98%), and St. Clair County (30.14%).
