Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2016, there were 1,814,648 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Illinois and they represented 14.15% of the total population of Illinois in 2016. Cook County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (1,223,363), followed by St. Clair County (79,361), and Will County (78,288). On the other hand, Scott County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (17), followed by Henderson County (19), and Calhoun County (19).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, Alexander County had the highest percentage (32.71%), followed by Pulaski County (30.71%), and St. Clair County (30.12%).
