Based on the US Census Vintage data estimates, in 2018, there were 1,794,372 people that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone in Illinois and they represented 14.10% of the total population of Illinois in 2018. Cook County had the highest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone population (1,195,033), followed by Will County (80,509), and St. Clair County (79,254). On the other hand, Hardin County had the lowest number of Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone (19), followed by Calhoun County (19), and Henderson County (23).

When it comes to the percentage of each county's population that identified as Non-Hispanic Black or African American alone, Alexander County had the highest percentage (31.92%), followed by St. Clair County (30.29%), and Pulaski County (29.91%).
